How our tools work

The planner uses statewide timing rules and practical ceremony details to estimate the safe window for getting your license. It is meant to help you plan better, then verify the final details with the office that will issue the license or perform the ceremony.

Pick your state first, then enter the date you want to marry. The planner shows the earliest day you can apply and the latest day a license would still be valid, based on statewide waiting periods and expiration rules.

Then read the notes below the dates. They highlight witness rules, what ID or documents may be needed, and whether a clerk's office ceremony or a one-day officiant option could matter for your plans.

Nothing you type into a tool is saved on our servers unless the tool says so. Letter builders and checklists run entirely in your browser.
