Standards

Editorial standards

We would rather say less and be right. Every guide and tool on Marriage License by County follows these rules.

Sources we use

Our pages are based on official county clerk and recorder pages, court and register offices, state statutes, state health departments, and other public agencies. We may also use major nonprofit or association sources when they help explain an official process clearly.

We cite the primary source whenever one exists: the statute, the agency page, the court rule, or the extension publication. News articles and industry groups are used only for context and are labeled as such. Each guide lists its sources at the bottom with links.

What we will not do

Tools and data

The planner uses statewide timing rules and practical ceremony details to estimate the safe window for getting your license. It is meant to help you plan better, then verify the final details with the office that will issue the license or perform the ceremony.

Review and updates

Each guide shows the date it was last reviewed. We re-check sources when we learn a rule has changed and at least once a year. When a change matters to readers, we note it on the page.

Corrections

If you find a mistake, use the contact form and include the page and a source. Confirmed errors are fixed promptly, and substantive corrections are noted on the page with the date.

Limits

This site is for general informational purposes only and is not legal advice. Rules, fees, and office procedures can change, and some counties add local requirements or appointment limits. Before you go, confirm the details with the county clerk, recorder, court, or other official office handling your license or ceremony.
